Perhaps one of the most underrated cuisines on the scene, Emirati food is hearty, warm and always cooked with love. If you haven’t tried it yet then it’s about time you got down to one of my five favourite spots and got stuck in!
This hidden gem in Jumeirah is surprisingly easy to find, located on Beach Road it serves up delicious, authentic Emirati cuisine that tastes like it’s come straight from Grandma’s kitchen. They offer breakfast, lunch dinner as well as shisha on the terrace.
For a fine dining Emirati experience this JBR eatery is the place to go; inspired by the seven different sands of the Emirates the decor is beautiful, the food is mouthwateringly delicious and the staff are friendly and accommodating. They also serve shisha inside and on the terrace overlooking the sea and the soon to be completed Dubai Eye ferris wheel.
When you think of theme restaurants you probably have images of tacky over decor and silly waiters but this Emirati classic has got the balance right, with beautiful interiors that take you to the streets of old Dubai with a souk, dining room and courtyard. The menu is simple but the portions are large enough to share, they have classic sodas and drinks on offer and will finish your meal with a refreshing splash of rose water to clean your hands before you leave.
This modern Emirati eatery boasts some of the best fries and iced karak you will ever taste. The small menu is fresh and full of flavour but you have to make sure you save room for dessert!
Khameer & Dough
What do Emiratis do better than meat? Bread. With out a doubt this region makes some of the best, most comforting bread in the world and that is exactly why I love Khameer and Dough. This literal hole in the wall in Jumeirah serves delicious freshly baked khameer stuffed with everything from Chips Oman to Kinder chocolate and PB&J, they are bite sized and will leave you wanting more.
