Taste Test: Very Peculiar, Marmite Chocolate

Marmite and chocolate, two things that, in an ideal worl, probably shouldn’t go together but they do.

It has taken me a while to open this up, I’ve had to work up the courage to try it as I had no idea what to expect.

I think the best way to describe this experience would be interesting, the milk chocolate is smooth and creamy but every so often there is a PPP of salt marmite flavour, the more you eat the more you taste the marmite with each bite. The after taste is that of marmite and it’s not really something you could site and devour a bar of in one sitting but it is a tasty treat.

I  thinking that a better application than eating it would maybe be to chuck it in a pot of chilli con carne….

    • Marmite is made from yeast extract, it’s a by product of beer making as far as I’m aware. We spread it on toast normally with butter. There are lots of YouTube videos of “Americans trying marmite” and they all freak out and say it’s gross because most of them just eat it straight off the spoon, never do that. It’s got a pretty strong flavour and a lot of people hate it but I love it, it’s kind of salty and a little sour, I dunno it’s weird to explain the taste.
