Dinner Review: Nineteen

The first time I went to Nineteen it was to celebrate my one year anniversary with the other half, now a couple of years later I have finally made it back and I can happily say that nothing has changed. This trip to Nineteen was to celebrate my father in law’s birthday – because there is no better way to celebrate birthdays than with good food and good wine.

When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by everyone, from the hotel front of house to the wait staff in the restaurant, everyone was friendly and happy, we were shown to our table outside where the beautiful views of the golf course created a calm and relaxed atmosphere; it was quiet and serene with only the sound of chatter from the other tables filling the air.

We were soon served a small plate of seared tuna, a little taster from the chef – it was delightful, light and full of flavour and the fish was fresh and bursting with goodness, for one small bite it was an amazing.

During our meal the service was impeccable, our glasses were never empty, our order was taken quickly and with no fuss and our waiter was personable and friendly and could have answered any question you had about anything on the menu with ease.

When our food arrived it was beautiful, full of colour and it was almost too pretty to eat; the steaks we perfectly marked from the grill and served with a little potato rossti type thing and a tomato while the lamb was a masterpiece of vegetables and sauce decorating the plate and complimenting the meat. The side dishes were perfectly portioned for two people to share along with the steaks and the onion rings were crispy and light.

Once we had enjoyed our dinner we were presented with a gorgeous lemon cheesecake in celebration of my father in-law’s birthday, it was surrounded in shards of white chocolate and topped with a delicious tangy lemon gel. The whole thing was fantastic, with all the flavours working together – not too sweet, not too tart, it was.

When we had finished our meal our waiter appeared to ask us if we would like them to order a taxi for us – which of course was a yes and I liked the fact that they do this, more so when they know everyone at the table has had a glass or two, it discourages people attempting to drive home. So while we waited for our taxi we sat and we digested, taking in the lovely view and contemplating how well we would sleep after our wonderful meal!
