Lunch Review: Moylo’s

Yes I know, yet another burger place, but honestly Moylo’s is the place to go. I thought I had tried a good burger but this is next level!

When you walk into the tiny road side establishment you are met with a crazy, eclectic space -the walls are covered in wallpaper that resembles newspaper pages, there are comedic signs dotted around the place adding a little lighthearted reading entertainment while you wait for meal. The chairs are all mix matched and the table legs are covered in crushed soft drink cans, there are thick chains hanging from the ceiling holding the sauce bottles and a small collection of kitschy little ornaments.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the tiny space feels comfortable, it’s the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by as you enjoy your lunch.

The menu is short and sweet with a choice of a couple of beef and a couple of chicken burgers and sides of fries or onion rings, but the decision is still a massive one! We decided to go with a Moylo’s burger and a Cheese attack and a portion of fries and onion rings to share as well as one of the salted caramel milkshakes I had heard so much about.

It didn’t take long for our meals to arrive, and arrive they did, looking and smelling absolutely brilliant. First we got the onion rings, they were beautiful and light with the onion in the middle being wonderfully soft so that the first bit didn’t pull the whole bit of onion out in one go, the batter was seasoned with herbs and they were to die for! Easily the best onion rings in Dubai – and anyone who wants to challenge that can feel free.

The truffle fries were just as delicious, they were perfectly salty with so much flavour that exploded in your mouth, I had always missed the big deal with truffle fries but now I understand, clearly when they are done right they are amazing. The sauce that came with them complemented all the flavours wonderfully.

Now the stars of the show were the burgers – as they should be – my cheese attack burger had said it was stuffed with cheese, but it wasn’t, it was stuffed with something even more amazing than your run of the mill cheese, it allowed a smokey flavour to permeate the meat and it was just the most such a fantastic blend. The burger itself was juicy and well cooked and the caramelized onions and sauce were just enough to compliment the patty. All the burgers come with a delicious little dollop of coleslaw that still has it’s crunch and just enough sweetness.

The salted caramel milkshake deserves a very special amount of love, we came to the joint conclusion over lunch that drowning in it would not be a bad way to go. It wasn’t too sweet, it was creamy and so thick the straw could stand up on it’s own in the middle. There wasn’t a ridiculous amount of whipped cream floating on the top and it was served in a mason jar – which for some reason makes everything taste better!

Moylo’s is now easily the top of my list for a lunch stop when I am down that end of Dubai, actually who am I kidding, I would make the trek just for one of their burgers!
